Small Form Factor - Not Small Enough!

ust when you thought small-form-factor were impressive, think again.  Chip PC Technology, a company that specializes in post-PC technologies and by utilizing the RISC architecture, has created a Jack PC.  The Jack PC consumes only 5 Watts of power, which enables the PC to run on power-over-ethernet.  The Jack PC runs on Windows CE with Windows Explore 6.0 and it comes with an AMD RISC processor with speeds up to 500MHz.  The company claims that the processor is equivalent to 1.2GHz on the x86 architecture.  Furthermore, the Jack PC can have up to 64MB of flash memory as well as 128MB RAM.

Jack PC

The Jack PC also have both analogue and digital monitor support with resolution up to 1280x1024.  What is more impressive is that this little thing can even support dual-screen as well as 16:9 aspect ratio.  From the picture above, we can see that the Jack PC comes with 4 USB 2.0 ports as well as audio in/out, and wireless connectivity.  If the user wants more applications to run on the Jack PC, the device must connect to a server which will raise the overall consumption of power.  For £209 ($390), you can own your very own Jack PC next month where it will be officially launched at IT Works.
