Mail Desktop beta

Image wannabegeek heralded the death of Outlook Express some weeks ago, now with the beta release of Widows Live Mail Desktop, it is apparent that it will be sooner rather than later.

Widows Live Mail Desktop offers a range of new features

  • Manage all your e-mail accounts in one place. Even AOL and Gmail. Just click “Add an e-mail account” and follow the instructions.
  • Get your favorite RSS feeds as easily as you get e-mail. Using Internet Explorer® 7, click “Add a feed”. Once you select the RSS feed you want, the information will be sent to your Windows Live Mail beta inbox. (RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication.” It’s a way to get a website’s latest content delivered to you.)
  • Move whole blocks of messages at once. Hold down the Ctrl key as you click the messages you want to move. Then drag and drop the whole bunch to a folder or the trash. Easy.
  • Share photos in a snap. With photo e-mail you can send photos as attachments, or insert them directly into your message. You can even add captions or change the layout without ever leaving your message. The pictures will appear in the body of the message, or they can be viewed as a slide show on the Web.
  • Kiss clutter goodbye with powerful junk e-mail filters. Keep out messages you don’t want, without blocking the ones you do.

WLMDT

Quote from Harris Hoffman on the Windows live sie

"Say goodbye to Outlook Express because once you try out WLMD, you will never be switching back. Mail Desktop features seamless integration with MSN and Live email addresses, pulling down all of your folders and emails, also making sure that everything is synced up with their servers. This is a key feature for me for one key reason: I am not tethered to one application on one computer. I can use Mail Desktop on my main computer and still check my mail from the web based Windows Live Mail interface, or when I'm out on my phone. Everything syncs up and works flawlessly"
