Gmail Notifier Boring or What
I have been using Gmail for a few years now, in fact I bought an invite on ebay for $2 so that will tell you how long ago it was, 3 years or so I think. Why, well I don't really know I'm just a bit like that if its new then I want it sort of thing (weirdo I here you say).
Anyway its been my primary email for this time, and not being a fan of Outlook or Outlook Express Ive always used the web interface and with that comes Gmail Notifier a small utility thats sits in sys tray and flags new mail.
No problem only its quite a boring little number, as it doesn't do much and if your like me, an incessant twiddler and tweaker, having no setting to adjust makes it pointless.
well thanks to softpedia.com I found a much more interesting notifier to play wtih.
it pretty much does just the same but we can adjust loads of stuff give it an animations play sound, decide if want to see old unread messages . the list goes on, its just a nice little utility to compliment Gmail
Best of all its freeware

Gdow is a highly configurable Gmail notifier that will check your GMail account for any unread mail and provide a short preview for it
It can notify you with a classic messsage box, a popup balloon (on Windows XP and Vista) or a transparent animated form. The latter is fully configurable :
· background color
· font (color,size,type, etc..)
· width
· maximum height (the form will autoadjust its height, if max height is reached the notify message will autoscroll)
· transparency
