Firefox 2.0 Beta RC Download Available
With the public Beta Release of Firefox 2.0 due on Tuesday July 11th,
Mozilla.org has made available a Release Candidate nightly build for
anxious testers to sink their teeth into. This build is said to finally
be feature complete, although nightly builds are not tested as a
general public release and bugs are highly possible.
With this latest release, Firefox now incorporates an integrated
spell checker, and to counter IE7's latest offering, a new
anti-phishing tool has been included. There have been other minor
interface enhancements, and Firefox 2.0 includes horizontal scrolling
for tabs, and a new options dialog. In addition, there have been a
number of code changes made to incorporate fixes for some of the latest
security flaws which have been found.
Versions for Windows, Mac's and Linux are available, but as of yet
there is little support for many extensions and add-ons. Installing the
nightly build will overwrite current settings and could cause themes
and extensions to become inoperable. For those not willing to take the
risk of a nightly build, the official Beta version will be released in
a couple of days.
