Here are links to two programs totally free to keep your PC safe from virus, its quite hard to choose which is the best so I will leave that to you. Just remember only one at a time both together is a NO NO, but try them and decide.

SpyWare

You may ask and quite rightly, so what spyware isnt that the same as a virus ? well NO its not and its very very different it behaves in totally diferent ways, but it can be just a disabiltating and catastrophic to a PC, these must be kept away.Most anti-spyware or anti-malware programmes covewr most things but I always found run two or even three to make sure you get everything. Its not like AV (antivirus) you can generally run as many as you like but hey be reasonable, Dont get paranoid and spend your days scanning
