Avoiding Microsoft Software WGA Checks
READ IMPORTANT UPDATE
The two or three solutions on this site still work to varing degrees depending on what you want to do, If its just to remove the nag screens then that's dead easy and in fact M$ will provide a tool for you. High security hotfixes can still be got through autodown load so you have no worries there. and you can still turn off the active X component in IE.
The problem still seems to be if someone want to get a new release from M$ they can some times download the program to the desktop but cannot install as it requires secondry validation. Well we are going to look at a way round this little problem and hope it will work . When you want to download a file from Microsoft a WGA (windows genuine advantage) check is performed. Microsoft installs a small piece of software on your computer that contacts the Microsoft server and checks for validity. If the test fails you will not be able to download the file(s). The following method gives you the ability to download every file from Microsoft without a WGA check. All you need is the tool mgadiag.exe and the download url of the file that you want to download. Mgadiag.exe is the Microsoft Genuine Advantage Diagnostic Tool. Start this tool and check the value of the “Download Center Code”, this should be seven chars consisting of upper case letters and numbers. Remember that code and open the website of the file that you want to download. A download page looks similar to this one for Internet Explorer 7. All you need to do is append the following value to the url and you will be able to download the file without a WGA check.
Replace the “download center code” with the code that you looked up in the mgadiag.exe tool. This code changes frequently, make sure you have the correct code before starting the downloads. To sum it up for the lazy ones:
*************************************************************************************************************** MuBlinder is a sweet little tool that requires the net framework to function. It is capable of doing lots of things and I think it is best to list only the most interesting ones. First, it can bypass the validation check for Internet Explorer 7, Media Player 11, Windows Defender and Microsoft Private Folders. The software is able to remove the WGA Notification, can run at startup and make sure that validation and notification status is active. Basically it offers you the ability to download and install every software and update from Microsoft without WGA checks and is updated regulary to keep pace with the updates from Microsoft. You are free to create workarounds in the software but this should be to complex for normal users.
***************************************************************************************************************** Update I found a few problems when trying to use just the above another method I found that works
