THE FOLLOWING APPLIES TO WINDOWS VISTA & 7 If you have ever wanted to replace your boring OEM logo or information in system properties than this tip is for you. Below is a screen shot of a PC I installed windows 7 on.
To add your own custom image to the system properties page in Windows Vista and 7 simply follow the steps below. Step 1 Select the image you want to use, Must be a bitmap image 120×120 pixels. If necessary open Paint and resize image and save as bitmap image ( .BMP ). Step 2 Once the image is of the required size and file type, Rename it to “oemlogo” and save the image to c:\windows\system32 Step 3 Now open the start menu and type “Regedit” into the search box and hit enter, Select yes in the pop up window to continue. Step 4 Once in registry editor navigate to the following folder in the left hand pane HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SOFTWARE \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ OEMInformation ( See image below )
Step 5 You will need to modify the value named “Logo”, Right click the value and select “Modify”, In the window that opens type the following, c:\windows\system32\eomlogo.BMP ( If the value does not exist, Select new string value from the right click menu and name it Logo ) And that’s it, You can now view your very own custom oem image in the system properties page, You can add further oem information by following steps 3 to 5 and create the string values below, Just select modify and type the text you want displayed in system properties. Model <Model name> SupportHours <Support hours> SupportPhone <Supportphonenumber> SupportURL <Supportsiteurl> Safe & Speedy Surfing
