Microsoft is desperate for people to get a new Windows Phone device in their hands, because they believe that once people try one out, they’ll love the experience and recommend it to their friends and family. We’ve seen the Redmond company try out multiple promotions, including giving away free Xbox console’s with a handset purchase and the new platform still commands only a tiny portion of the smartphone market. Granted, it’s still barely a year old, but in such a highly competitive market as is mobile, they need to get the word out and quickly. They’re at it once again to the tune of free apps and games.

Microsoft is announcing a new promotion to folks who buy a new Windows Phone device before the end of the year. The purchase will not only gain you one of the worlds best smartphones, but also a $25 prepaid gift card to use to purchase apps and games from the Windows Phone Marketplace. This deal is only good on Windows Phones purchased between 11/2/2011-12/31/2011 and you’ll need to submit your request by February 14, 2012. You can get your free $25 app and game card here.
