Virtual tours of different business operations will be available with Microsoft Surface. Companies can give potential customers virtual tours of plane interiors, help them plan flights, provide them with the ability to create immersive photo books, and entice bank customers into brick and mortar branches.

The World of Touch and New Business Opportunities

The world of touch is becoming more prevalent and ubiquitous; thanks in large part to the iPhone and iPad, people are looking for more immersive relationships with screens. The new Surface takes technology takes experiences that have existed on the back end but are now at the front and center. Customers and retailers can interact together in new ways; a doctor and a patient can have a more immersive consulting experience, and a banker and a customer can sit together and work on a financial or real estate simulation where in past the banker would dominate the conversation.

The Structure of Touch

The new Surface device incorporates a variety of key features.

There is a massive multi-touch screen, with the ability to recognize fingers, blobs, and objects. PixelSense, a new technology, lets LCD panels “see” without the use of actual cameras. This technology allowed the development of a new Surface device with a new form factor; one that can be turned on its side. With a screen that is only four inches thick, you will have the option to use the Samsung SUR40 horizontally as a table, hang it on a wall, or embed it into furniture.

With the Windows8 version going into prime time in a few months, and with the touch technology implementation there, Microsoft is showing its commitment to this new UI.

Pre-Order

Samsung and Microsoft announced that the Surface device is now available for pre-order, the near final stop on its journey from lab to marketplace. Businesses can visit the Samsung website to find a local reseller and place an order for the Samsung SUR40.
