    • According to Microsoft “Using System Center Configuration Manager 2012, organizations can: Empower people to be productive from anywhere on whatever device they choose. This includes the wide range of devices that connect to Exchange ActiveSync, including Windows Phone, Symbian, iOS, and Android-based devices.”

Server App-V is a tool that enables customers to virtualize their application images on a Windows Azure worker role (single role, single instance) without rewriting them or packaging them within a virtual machine. This can help in moving legacy applications into the cloud.

System Center Virtual Machine Manager (SCVMM). SCVMM is the “private cloud” piece of Microsoft’s server application virtualization operations. What does it do? Microsoft Server Application Virtualization converts traditional server applications into state separated XCopyable images but without requiring code changes to the applications themselves. This allow administrator to host a variety of Windows 2008 applications on Azure.

These apps, Server App-V, and the coming Azure VM role technology, are some of the first infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) technologies from Microsoft. Windows Azure is more of a platform-as-a-service (PaaS) platorm.

The upcoming releases, should embolden many managers and administrators to take a second look at the cloud. Microsoft is making the move easier for them.
