Techstars Cloud, and Microsoft announced an agreement whereby new entrepreneurial companies would be participating in Cloud operations. According to TechStars they “will select approximately ten companies focused on cloud infrastructure to participate. Chosen companies will receive seed funding, mentorship from many of the world’s top cloud infrastructure thought leaders, and will have access to perks available only to TechStars companies and alumni. The program will be managed by Jason Seats and Nicole Glaros. Jason was the founder of Slicehost (acquired by RackSpace in 2008) and has deep understanding of cloud infrastructure and entrepreneurship. Nicole Glaros is currently the Managing Director of TechStars in Boulder, and will relocate to San Antonio to co-manage the inaugural program with Jason.” Microsoft’s New Cloud Promotional Offer For Microsoft, they will offer access to up to $60,000 worth of Azure capacity for up to 24 months at no cost. With the initial limit of 10 seed companies, Microsoft will make their services available, and then hope that the companies continue to work in the Cloud capacity, with Microsoft as the Cloud holder. For Microsoft, the move is clear, get startup companies hooked on Azure, and they will likely continue to use it after their initial time period expires. Global Accelerator Techstars is not the only company that has this kind of offer. Global Accelerator also has a promotion for high quality start-up companies.
